Deb joined Portage Curves in March 2002. She was encouraged to join by her friends and liked the idea that Curves is a workout facility focusing on women. She lost over 60 pounds and has kept it off with a combination of Curves and food management. Deb works out using the CurvesSmart program 4-6 days each week. Her favorite machine is the Leg Press. Deb’s favorite change is her increased self confidence. According to Deb, “the consistent exercise has been a great stress reliever too!” Her best advice for members and anyone thinking about joining Portage Curves is to have a workout buddy. “Working out with a partner helps keep you motivated and accountable.” Both of Deb’s daughters are members of Curves too!

Linda joined Portage Curves in February 2009 after her insurance company contacted her about being eligible for the SilverSneakers program. Linda has had a total shoulder protacal and needs both knees replaced, so she knew the importance of adding an exercise regime to her daily routine. She has lost weight by eating fruits, vegetables, and yummy salads. She has also cut down on breads and desserts. Exercise has brought Linda some wonderful new changes such as being able to wear new clothes that were given to her by a special friend. Linda works out at Portage Curves 3-4 days each week and enjoys listening to oldies while on the circuit. Her favorite machine is the hip abductor/adductor. What is so amazing about Linda is she does her entire workout with the aid of a walker! She is an inspiration to other Curves members because she doesn’t let anything get in the way of her workouts.
